Human Rights Commission Calls for Probe after Coal Mine Disaster and Kech Killings

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan issued a stark warning after two fatal incidents in Baluchistan. A methane explosion at a deep‑level coal shaft near Quetta claimed 34 lives, while a coordinated abduction in Kech ended with seven workers dead, six of them bearing bullet wounds.

Commission spokespersons stressed that, although the events differ, they both expose systemic neglect of labour rights. They urged authorities to launch transparent inquiries, hold perpetrators accountable, and upgrade occupational safety measures in mines and industrial sites.
