How Modi's UAE Visit Secured LPG Supply Lines

India's energy planners are breathing easier after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mid-May visit to the UAE delivered firm commitments on LPG supplies. The new contracts are designed to protect households and industries from sudden shortages when global markets turn volatile. At Monday's briefing, the Foreign Ministry emphasized that the agreements go beyond fuel purchases. They also lay the groundwork for long-term investment flows from Abu Dhabi into Indian infrastructure, logistics, and manufacturing. A separate defense pact signed during the trip upgrades the strategic partnership between the two nations. Petroleum Ministry officials provided detailed figures showing the scale of recent supply shocks: 40 percent of crude imports, 90 percent of LPG imports, and 65 percent of natural gas imports have been affected by the West Asia situation. Despite these pressures, retail fuel availability across India has remained steady. The UAE deals are expected to act as a buffer. They guarantee diversified sourcing options and help stabilize prices at a time when many economies are struggling with energy inflation. Government sources say additional memorandums on petrochemicals and clean energy are in advanced stages of negotiation.
