Houthi forces claim ballistic missile strike on Riyadh airport

The Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sari said his group launched a ballistic missile targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Monday evening. The statement claimed the missile hit its target precisely and also mentioned a drone strike on the nearby King Khalid Air Base at Khamis Mushait.

Saudi officials responded by saying their air‑defence units intercepted the incoming missile mid‑air and destroyed it before impact. Residents in Riyadh reported hearing loud explosions and received emergency alerts via a mobile application.

The back‑and‑forth claims highlight the volatile nature of the Yemen conflict and its spill‑over effects on Saudi soil.
