Fresh military exchanges in the Strait of Hormuz have pushed US-Iran relations to a new low after American forces destroyed four Iranian drones and a launch facility. Central Command framed the operation as necessary to neutralize threats to international shipping after intelligence indicated the drones were preparing to target vessels. The facility struck lies east of Bandar Abbas and reportedly coordinated drone flights over the strategic chokepoint. Tehran responded with strong rhetoric, labeling the strikes a breach of de-escalation agreements and vowing further countermeasures. State television showed footage of smoke rising from the area and reported that air-defense radars went active within minutes of the blasts. In a separate statement, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they launched a retaliatory strike on an American airbase whose location remains undisclosed. The back-and-forth comes just days after an earlier round of US action, leaving diplomats scrambling to contain fallout that could affect global oil prices and maritime security.
