High‑tech, healthcare and infrastructure firms join Indian trade delegation in Singapore visit

A robust Indian trade mission, led by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, arrived in Singapore on August 19 with a contingent of about 70 senior representatives from technology, artificial intelligence, manufacturing, infrastructure, finance, healthcare, agriculture, logistics, maritime trade and professional services.

The delegation’s agenda revolves around B2B and G2B meetings aimed at attracting new investment, expanding market reach, encouraging joint technology development, upskilling workers and establishing fresh commercial alliances. The visit is part of the Fourth India‑Singapore Ministerial Roundtable, featuring Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Electronics & IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Key sessions include the signing of multiple agreements, followed by a luncheon hosted by Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister to honour the Indian and Singaporean teams. Goyal is also set to meet Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and senior officials from global and local entities such as the Global Finance and Technology Network, WIPO Global, Milken Institute, Capel Infrastructure, Temasek Holdings and IHH Healthcare.

Together with Singapore’s State Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Siow Huang, Goyal will tour the APDA‑Fairprice showcase at City Square Mall, an initiative that introduces Indian agricultural and food products to Singapore’s consumers. He will also take part in the FICCI‑organized India‑Singapore Business Forum at the INCEAD Asia Campus and deliver a keynote address at the ICAI ASEAN Conference 2026.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, Singapore was the top source of foreign direct investment for India in FY 2025‑26, channeling $19.8 billion into the Indian economy. Cumulatively, Singapore’s FDI contribution from April 2000 to March 2026 totals $194.68 billion, representing about 24.7% of India’s total foreign inflows. Bilateral trade values have risen dramatically from $6.7 billion in 2004‑05 to $36.1 billion in 2025‑26 after the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement took effect.
