High-Speed Impact on Kabul-Laghman Road Leaves Seven Dead

Kabul, 8 November – A high‑velocity vehicle struck a three‑wheel carriage on the main Kabul‑Laghman highway, causing seven immediate fatalities and injuring two others, provincial police said.

The crash happened Saturday in the Mashali sector of Karghayi district, a critical corridor that links the capital city with eastern Afghan provinces.

Emergency responders confirmed that all seven victims died at the scene. The two survivors were taken to Laghman Provincial Hospital for treatment.

The tragedy follows other recent road disasters: on 4 November, a head‑on collision between two fast cars in Balkh province killed three and injured four; on 1 November, a truck‑rickshaw accident in Laghman resulted in two deaths and three injuries; on 30 October, a bus collided with an oil tanker in Baghlan, killing five and wounding twenty.

Officials identified deteriorated road conditions, excessive speed, careless driving, and weak traffic‑control systems as the chief contributors to the mounting number of fatalities.

Police urge the public to obey traffic laws, reduce speed, and prioritize road safety to stem the growing wave of accidents.
