High‑Altitude Wind Power Project Nears Operational Phase

Situated between 4,600 and 4,800 metres above sea level, the Ali Geytse wind farm has become one of the world’s highest‑elevation renewable projects. The site hosts ten turbines, each rated at 5 MW, which were installed despite harsh weather, thin air and temperatures dropping well below zero after mid‑September. Installation crews worked around the National Day holiday, with more than sixty workers on site to keep the schedule. With the mechanical work now complete, engineers are conducting final quality assessments and testing sub‑station gear before linking the turbines to the grid. The plant is expected to start full‑capacity generation by the end of 2026, delivering close to 18 billion kilowatt‑hours of clean power each year and displacing roughly 150,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
