Hezbollah Drone Threat Prompts Israeli Bombardment of Weapon Depots in Southern Lebanon

Beirut – Sunday’s air campaign by the Israeli Defense Forces was triggered, according to Israeli officials, by a Hezbollah attempt to strike IDF positions with drones in the southern Lebanese security zone.

The IDF released footage showing its troops firing at the approaching drones and successfully downing one of them. No Israeli soldiers were reported injured during the skirmish.

In the minutes that followed, Israeli jets hit multiple locations that the military labeled as Hezbollah arms depots and logistical hubs. Israeli statements said the weapons stored at those sites were earmarked for attacks on Israeli forces and civilian areas.

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health said the bombings resulted in four deaths and twenty injuries, underscoring the escalating civilian impact of the conflict.

This operation mirrors a similar IDF strike last week, where an underground Hezbollah infrastructure in the Ali al‑Taher district was neutralised, reinforcing Israel’s strategy of swift retaliation to any breach of the cease‑fire agreement.
