Rescue Operations Continue as Flood Damages Water Supply in Grand Canyon

Following Saturday's flash flood in Grand Canyon National Park, rescue teams have evacuated 62 people from the affected zones. Two bodies have been recovered, and more than a dozen individuals are still unlocated.

The National Park Service reports that the Trans‑Canyon waterline, which provides drinking water to South Rim and canyon facilities, suffered damage to roughly 40 percent of its length, rendering many locations without safe water.

Park officials have urged the public to stay away from closed sections, including Phantom Ranch, Bright Angel Campground, the cabin complex, and the entire North Kaibab Trail, while search and rescue efforts proceed.

Weather forecasts from the U.S. National Weather Service predict continued thunderstorms and rain through Monday afternoon and evening, maintaining a flood alert for the region.
