Goyal Calls for Doubling Japanese Investments Ahead of 75th Diplomatic Year
The Union minister for commerce and industry, speaking to Japanese business leaders in Tokyo, asked companies to expand their Indian operations, echoing the growth pattern of Suzuki. He highlighted that Suzuki now operates some of the most profitable manufacturing sites in the country after four decades of investment.
He expressed a desire to see the same success replicated by the 1,580 Japanese firms currently present in India, urging them to scale up and tap into the nation’s youthful talent pool.
Celebrating 75 years of Indo‑Japanese diplomatic ties, the minister suggested that this anniversary be leveraged to deepen economic collaboration and set a robust framework for the coming decade.
India’s demographic profile, with an average working‑age age of less than 30 years, provides a sustainable source of skilled labour and a burgeoning consumer market. The minister tied these advantages to the nation’s ambition to grow its economy to $30 trillion by 2047, a goal supported by the resolve of its 1.4 billion population.
