Government Refutes Reports of Ministers Opposing Live Cabinet Sessions
Seoul, 18 October – The South Korean government dismissed a circulating story that several ministers had complained about the live broadcast of cabinet meetings.
The report, which cited unnamed sources, claimed that ministers found it difficult to express dissent when proceedings were aired. The Prime Minister’s office responded that the live streaming is intended to make governance more transparent and to involve citizens directly in policy formation.
President Lee Jae‑myung, in a recent X post, labeled the allegations as fabricated and reiterated his commitment to hearing all views, regardless of whether they align with the majority.
Officials stressed that cabinet members are encouraged to voice contrary opinions and that the president values such contributions as a cornerstone of democratic debate.
