Government Review Sessions to Focus on Everyday Impact for Koreans

President Yoon Suk-yeol convened the second round of comprehensive policy review meetings, following the first round held at the end of 2025. He instructed ministries and agencies to prepare long‑term implementation plans for his priorities while addressing systemic problems within the public administration. Emphasising “reform and innovation,” Yoon pointed to the urgent need to recover overdue national taxes and other revenues that now exceed 100 trillion won. Temporary hiring of additional tax officers was presented as a courageous step to speed up collections and generate employment. A total of 140 ministries and agencies will submit progress reports across nine sessions scheduled for early August, under the theme “A Republic of Korea Felt in Daily Life.” Each session will host roughly 20 public observers who can question officials and offer suggestions directly to the president.
