Government of India launches website for taking citizenship under CAA, minorities coming from these 3 countries will get citizenship, know how they can apply

New Delhi. The Central Government had announced the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)-2019 in India on Monday, March 11, just before the announcement of Lok Sabha elections. After this, today the Union Home Ministry has launched a web portal (http://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in) to facilitate the process of applying for Indian citizenship. After the launch of this portal, 6 minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will now be able to apply online for Indian citizenship.

Let us tell you that due to this step of the Centre, the way has been cleared for providing citizenship to non-Muslim immigrants coming to India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan before December 31, 2014. Six religious minorities, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians, have been included in this law. And Muslim refugees have been kept out of the CAA law.

Know how to apply –

First of all go to indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in portal, now scroll down and click on the box written Click to submit appication for indian citizenship Under CAA, 2019. Now you will be redirected to a new page, here you will have to enter email ID/mobile number. After this, enter the Captcha code shown in the box. After clicking on the Continue button, OTP will come on the registered mobile and email ID. After this, follow the instructions given on the screen.

Documents required for CAA

According to the new rules, only two documents will have to be submitted to get Indian citizenship. To obtain Indian citizenship, an affidavit will have to be given regarding the character of the applicant. The applicant must have knowledge of one of the languages ​​given in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. Let us tell you that the Home Ministry is also going to launch a mobile application named 'CAA-2019' soon to complete this process through mobile phones.
