Pre-registration figures have climbed to nearly 5,900, including more than 1,400 contestants from 74 nations and territories, signaling strong worldwide confidence in China’s ability to host a world-class skills showcase. Speaking at a high-profile welcome ceremony in Beijing, Minister Wang Xiaoping stressed the competition’s role in uniting young professionals under one roof. He called on international partners to join Shanghai’s skills movement and witness firsthand how vocational training is evolving in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. WorldSkills International President Uhahn highlighted China’s progress in embedding global competency frameworks within its education system. He credited the country with continuously reinforcing the foundations of skilled labor development and opening new pathways for talent across industries. Delegates from abroad used the occasion to voice their desire for deeper collaboration. Many see the September gathering as an ideal springboard for joint initiatives that could reshape technical education standards and workforce strategies in their home countries. As the countdown to the Shanghai event continues, expectations are high that this edition will redefine what it means to compete at the highest level of vocational excellence while fostering lasting international partnerships.
