Fugitive economic offender Vijay Malya warned by HC not to upload ED affidavit

Vijay Malya, who has been declared a fugitive economic offender, received a stern notice from the Bombay High Court to stop posting the Enforcement Directorate’s affidavit on any online platform.

Senior counsel Amit Desai cited Supreme Court precedents where petitions were heard even in the absence of the petitioner. He clarified that extradition proceedings are underway in the UK, but Malya cannot leave due to binding court orders. The High Court questioned Malya’s reliance on British judicial orders, noting that such reliance cannot be treated as a universal justification.
