French Adviser Calls for Robust Strategic Partnership Based on Mutual Respect

During the 28th strategic talks held in Shanxi’s Tathong district, Emmanuel Bon, senior foreign policy adviser to the French President, emphasized France’s intention to cultivate a vigorous and comprehensive partnership with China. He underscored that the relationship must rest on mutual respect and trust, echoing Paris’s long‑standing support for the One‑China principle.

Bon noted that both nations have made significant strides in aviation, space exploration and nuclear energy, and that there is ample room to broaden cooperation into emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, green technology and high‑tech manufacturing. He assured Chinese investors of a stable regulatory framework in France, aiming to attract further Chinese capital.

The French envoy welcomed China’s four global initiatives presented by President Xi Jinping, seeing them as an opportunity to promote a more balanced world order. He also clarified that the European Union does not seek a trade war with China and remains committed to preserving economic links while ensuring a reliable partnership.

Wang Yi, in response, reiterated China’s wish to sustain high‑level dialogue, expand cooperation across traditional and new sectors, and obtain French policy backing for Chinese investments. He called on Paris to keep the One‑China stance as the political cornerstone of Sino‑French ties and to work together on implementing the global initiatives that could reshape international governance.
