France‑South Korea Bilateral Talks Emphasise Trade and Security

President Lee’s three‑day trip to France is set to deepen bilateral cooperation across a range of strategic areas. After attending the Lumière Summit in Nice, he will meet President Macron in Paris for a summit discussion covering security, trade and joint projects.

Key agenda items include the possible stationing of South Korean troops in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, cooperation on nuclear power and offshore wind, and joint research in AI, semiconductors, quantum technology and critical minerals. A business conference will feature twenty companies from each nation, highlighting opportunities for investment and technology exchange.

The visit coincides with the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and follows Macron’s state visit to Seoul earlier this year.
