Nepal’s educational landscape is set for transformation with India’s generous funding for two new school projects in Rupandehi and Bajhang. Ceremonies on Friday marked the official start of construction in Butwal and Jayaprithvi, symbolizing enduring bilateral friendship.
At Nayagaon Secondary School in Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City, Rupandehi, Indian First Secretary Suman Shekhar and Mayor Khel Raj Pandey unveiled the foundation plaque. India is contributing 4.4 crore Nepali rupees to build a robust school structure tailored for modern education needs.
Meanwhile, in Bajhang’s Jayaprithvi Municipality, Shree Satyavadi Secondary School’s new administrative hub and dormitories received 13.9 crore Nepali rupees from New Delhi. The event was graced by First Secretary Narayan Singh and Mayor Chet Raj Bajal.
The comprehensive designs include multi-story offices, gender-segregated hostels, sanitation blocks, and support amenities, ensuring inclusive and safe spaces for students from diverse backgrounds.
Classified under HICDP – a flagship since 2003, previously known as Small Grant Projects – these efforts align with Nepal’s development goals in education, healthcare, water, and energy. Local bodies will oversee implementation, ensuring community involvement.
The Indian Embassy emphasized, ‘India’s support through HICDP strengthens Nepal’s developmental strides.’ This collaboration reflects a broad spectrum of ties, from infrastructure to human resource development, paving the way for brighter futures in Nepal’s hinterlands.
