New Delhi. Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who came to India after her residence in Dhaka was attacked by anti-government protesters on August 5, has been living in a safe house in New Delhi’s Lutyens Bungalow Zone for more than two months. The Government of India has made this arrangement for them.
Keeping in mind the status of Khesh Hasina, there is a full-sized bungalow similar to the Lutyens bungalow allotted to ministers, senior MPs and top officials. Who sometimes strolls in Lodhi Garden with proper safety protocol.
A source confirmed, “He has a tight security cover, with plainclothes security personnel guarding him 24 hours a day. As a dignitary he is getting this level of security. She has been living in this area for more than two months. All arrangements for his stay were made here.”
According to sources, Hasina and some of her close aides arrived at Hindon airbase in a Bangladesh Air Force plane late on August 5, just hours after she resigned following weeks of anti-government protests that left more than 400 people dead. Had gone.
However, he left the airbase within two days. On the day of his arrival, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and senior military officials met him at the airbase.
Another source told. “She could not stay at the airbase for long. The arrangements there were not adequate. So, within a few days, he was taken to a safe place and then a house was arranged for him in a safe area of Lutyens Delhi.” This is a high security area, where many former and sitting MPs have their homes.
When asked if she goes out of the house often, the source said that the main security group is informed whenever the need arises, and arrangements are made accordingly.
Although the Indian government has not formally disclosed Sheikh Hasina’s location to the Bangladesh government, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar had told Parliament in August that Hasina had sought permission to visit India “for the time being”.
Hasina was also accompanied by her sister Sheikh Rehana, who is a British citizen and whose daughter Tulip Siddiq is the leader of the Labor Party in Britain. However, it is not clear whether she is living in the house with her sister or not.
Hasina’s daughter Saima Wajed, who is the regional director for South-East Asia at the World Health Organization’s Delhi headquarters, also lives in Delhi. She is the first Bangladeshi to hold this post.
