Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri recently visited Abu Dhabi, UAE, on June 10th. The visit followed up on the 15th Joint Commission Meeting between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held in New Delhi on December 13, 2024. Misri held a bilateral meeting with Reem Al Hashim, Minister of State for International Cooperation, UAE, to assess the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UAE. Discussions covered expanding the partnership across sectors like trade, investments, energy, culture, defence, technology, and consular matters. Both sides agreed to collaborate in multilateral and international forums. He acknowledged the UAE’s support and solidarity following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The Foreign Secretary also met with Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Co-existence, UAE, expressing gratitude for the care provided to the 4.3 million Indian residents in the UAE. Furthermore, Misri met Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, a member of the UAE Federal National Council and Chairman of the Defence Affairs, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee, and Chairman of the International Steering Board of Hedayah, reaffirming the commitment to combat terrorism. The visit signifies the continued high-level exchanges and deepening of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
