Foreign Ministry Official Emphasises Trade Expansion with Africa

Kolkata, September 15 – Joint Secretary (State) A. Ajay Kumar addressed delegates at the India‑Africa Business Linkage Conference, stressing that India’s trade with Africa is already robust but offers far‑greater scope.

He pointed out that Africa’s vast market and India’s large consumer base create a natural synergy, urging business leaders to explore the continent as a strategic destination. Kumar highlighted that the BRICS expansion, with several African nations now members, will open additional multilateral channels for commerce.

“The conference is designed to energise existing ties and promote deeper engagement,” Kumar said. “We aim to inspire entrepreneurs to see Africa not just as a source of raw materials but as a partner for sustained growth.”

He concluded that the forum will help strengthen bilateral relations and accelerate economic cooperation across sectors.
