Foreign Ministry Rejects US Itinerary for Telangana Chief Minister, Allows UK Visit

In a clear statement on Friday, India's Ministry of External Affairs said it could not approve the United States segment of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revant Reddy's foreign tour. The ministry cited a mismatch between the proposed activities and the chief minister's official capacity.

Ranveer Jaiswal, the MEA spokesperson, told reporters that political clearance is contingent upon the relevance of the agenda to the office holder. "The US programme was not in line with the chief minister's duties or the purpose of the trip, so we could not grant permission," he explained.

The UK leg of the trip received the necessary clearance, and the delegation arrived in London as scheduled. After being informed that the US leg would not be approved, the chief minister opted to return to Hyderabad instead of traveling onward to Boston.

Reddy voiced his frustration, noting that the delegation sought to forge educational partnerships, showcase Telangana's growth potential, and support the broader vision of a developed nation through international academic collaboration.
