FEC Quarterly Report Shows Ro Khanna’s $16.9 Million Cash Balance

The Federal Election Commission’s Q3 disclosure reveals that Congressman Ro Khanna, representing California’s 17th district, entered the end of September with $16.94 million in cash on hand. This amount surpasses the campaign resources of any other Indian‑American federal office seeker. Between July and September, Khanna’s campaign pulled in $1.48 million and spent $1.47 million, bringing overall contributions to $15.4 million and total spending to $9.3 million since the beginning of the election cycle.

His GOP opponent, Ritesh Tandon, raised a modest $14,807 for the quarter and held $702 at month‑end. In comparison, fellow Indian‑American members have smaller funds: Rep. Pramila Jayapal reported $349,000 raised and $1.77 million cash; Rep. Ami Bera listed $187,000 in contributions with $1.65 million cash; Rep. Suhas Subramanyam of Virginia raised $400,000 and kept $647,000.

Additional data points include a Michigan candidate who, after an August primary loss, disclosed $5.94 million cash but also $14.44 million in debt, and Illinois Senate primary candidate Raja Krishnamurti, who noted only a small remaining balance in his committees. Several candidates in Arizona’s 1st district and Florida’s 22nd district failed to file their Q3 reports before the midnight deadline, among them Democratic contenders Amish Shah and Pia Dandia. Dandia’s Republican rival KC Askar listed $80,000 cash and $4.04 million in liabilities. All numbers remain subject to final FEC verification.
