EU Parliament Calls for Action after Court Hands Over Child to Kidnapper in Pakistan

Earlier this month the European Parliament adopted a resolution condemning the kidnapping, forced conversion and child marriage of minor Christian girls in Pakistan. The text cited the case of 13‑year‑old Maria Shahbaz, abducted in March 2026, and urged the Pakistani authorities to provide legal aid, family reunification and psychological support to victims. The resolution highlighted UN data from 2025 indicating that 75% of women and girls forced to change religion through marriage were Hindu and 25% were Christian.
