EU Approves 21st Sanctions Package Amid Growing Ukraine Conflict

European Commission Vice‑President Kaja Kallas announced that the European Union has reached an agreement on its 21st sanctions package against Russia. The new measures aim to cripple Moscow’s war‑fighting economy and limit its ability to fund the conflict.

Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the package, stating that the sanctions are designed to weaken Russia’s military capacity while bolstering support for Ukraine. She added that further, tougher steps could be taken if circumstances demand.

The package includes restrictions on technology exports, financial transactions and energy supplies, targeting sectors crucial for sustaining Russia’s armed forces.
