Essential Goods Prices Remain Flat Throughout Holiday Week
Beijing, Oct 5 – The Ministry of Commerce’s latest figures confirm that daily‑necessity prices stayed essentially flat over the National Day vacation. Data from more than 200 major agricultural and auxiliary wholesale markets showed that grain, oil, pork, beef, mutton and fruit prices on Oct 1‑7 were almost identical to those recorded on Sep 30.
Only two categories showed a slight decline: vegetables and chicken each fell 0.5 % while eggs dropped 1.1 %. The stability of these core items helped keep household budgets steady during the high‑spending holiday period.
Combined with the strong foot traffic and increased sales revenue reported for the first three days, the price steadiness underscores the effectiveness of China’s supply‑side measures and the resilience of consumer demand.
