Escalating India-Pakistan Rhetoric After New India Threat
Tensions rose on October 17 when India’s defence minister Rajnath Singh warned that any new act of cross‑border terrorism would trigger a response larger than previous actions. In reaction, Pakistan’s top strategic commander, Lt Gen Amer Raja, warned of a “response beyond imagination” for any miscalculation by the opponent.
Speaking during a ceremony at the Pakistan Military Academy, Raja reiterated that the nuclear‑armed region leaves no place for conventional war and that the armed forces stand ready to secure national borders. He also accused external forces of attempting to sow discord through a narrative campaign against Pakistan.
The exchange follows a statement from Pakistan’s foreign office that labelled Singh’s remarks as provocative, adding to the diplomatic volley between the two neighbours.
