Emerging Powers to Align with Both Superpowers, says Foreign Minister
The Indian foreign minister pointed out that the crucial question now is "who shakes hands with whom." If emerging and middle powers can avoid direct confrontation, they are likely to boost cooperation among themselves.
"It is natural for them to work jointly with the United States as well as with China," Jaishankar explained, noting that a third‑way strategy is moving from an exception to a common practice.
Countries that previously felt safe in one camp are beginning to seriously consider a third option, which does not necessarily mean cutting ties with either side. In today’s interconnected world, complete disengagement is impossible.
The real challenge, according to Jaishankar, is to stay linked while simultaneously keeping strategic options open.
