Emergency response declared for two weeks in Nusa Tenggara after quake

The governor of East Nusa Tenggara announced a 14‑day emergency response status beginning 15 August, aimed at accelerating rescue, evacuation, and aid distribution.

Data released by the national disaster agency shows that 914 houses were severely damaged, 126 suffered moderate damage and 317 were lightly affected. In addition, 93 schools, 36 health centres and 38 government offices were reported as damaged.

Relief operations involve a coordinated use of land, sea and air assets. Eleven fixed‑wing aircraft and several helicopters are delivering food, water and medical supplies to hard‑to‑reach communities, especially on the island of Sika Regency.

The response also includes the establishment of a temporary field hospital to compensate for the loss of services at Manggarai Regional Hospital.
