Drone Attack on Krasnodar Leaves Children Dead, Dozens Injured

A Ukrainian combat drone struck the city of Krasnodar on the night of August 23, causing the death of two children and injuring seven more at a private children’s centre. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev posted on social media that the debris fell directly onto the facility, expressing condolences to the victims’ families. In addition to the child casualties, two adults required hospital care. The blast also damaged nearby housing, a construction site for a new apartment block and several warehouses. The same night, a drone hit Ozon’s logistics centre in Krasnodar; the staff were safely evacuated and no one was harmed. This is the third assault on an Ozon warehouse this year, following attacks on locations in Samara and Orenburg. Earlier Ukrainian drone activity had primarily targeted the Wildberries retail network. Russia’s defence ministry later claimed that 269 Ukrainian drones were shot down across various regions within twelve hours. President Vladimir Putin warned that Ukrainian forces have been continuously using missiles and drones to strike Russian civilian and logistic targets for the past 40 days.
