Ruling Democratic Party leader visits graves, calls for 20‑30 year golden era

In an effort to bridge divides, DP chief Kim Min-siyok toured several memorial sites on Thursday.

He started at the Sejong shrine of ex‑Prime Minister Lee He‑chan, offering a wreath as a sign of respect.

He then moved to Gyeonggi Province to honor late activist‑turned‑lawmaker Kim Gyeon‑tae.

Kim told journalists that the party’s goal is far beyond a single election victory; it aspires to govern continuously for the next two to three decades, shaping a golden era of democratic rule.

The gesture targets lingering factional tension between camps aligned with President Lee Jae‑myung and those backing former party head Jang Chung‑rye.

Earlier, he paid respects at the graves of former Presidents Kim Dae‑jung and Roh Moo‑hyun, met with ex‑President Moon Jae‑in in Yangsan, and joined a dinner hosted by President Lee that also featured Jang and Song Young‑gil.
