Displacement spikes as conflict intensifies near Sudan‑Chad border

Drone strikes on Tuesday targeted several neighborhoods in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, while insecurity in Blue Nile forced more than 3,300 residents of the Gessan zone to abandon their homes near the Ethiopia border. The same wave of violence displaced families in the Um Baru area, prompting an exodus toward neighboring states and across the Sudan‑Chad frontier. OCHA warned that rising inter‑communal tension in South and Central Darfur could further jeopardise civilian safety.
