Diplomatic Security Breach in Ljubljana Triggers Strong Response from India

A breach of security at the Indian Embassy in Slovenia’s capital prompted a forceful reaction from New Delhi. The Ministry of External Affairs declared the act a violation of the Vienna Convention and demanded that the Slovenian government bring the culprits to justice.

The statement highlighted the need for host‑nation authorities to protect foreign diplomatic missions and to investigate hate‑motivated attacks without delay. It also called for monitoring of extremist groups that may be inciting violence.

The vandalism was reported as the two nations were actively working to deepen bilateral relations, including joint projects in energy, tourism and education. Ambassador Amit Narang had earlier presented a letter from India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar to Minister Tone Kajzar.

India’s diplomatic corps, which has operated in Ljubljana since 2007, regards the incident as a serious affront and expects comprehensive cooperation from Slovenia to safeguard its diplomatic staff and property.
