Diplomatic Coordination Leads to Successful Rescue of Indians Aboard Struck Vessel
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs reported that five Indian citizens were rescued from the Kuwaiti‑flagged tanker MT Kajimah III after a projectile impact in the Strait of Hormuz on October 3. The ministry emphasized its dedication to protecting Indian nationals and crew members stationed abroad.
The rescue was carried out through close cooperation between the Indian Embassy in Oman and Omani naval and coast‑guard units. According to the embassy’s statement on social media, the coordinated effort ensured that all five individuals were safely transferred to the nearest coastline. The embassy extended its appreciation to Omani authorities for their efficient assistance.
This operation follows a similar episode in September when a projectile attack on the MV Cap Diyo resulted in the death of an Indian sailor and the rescue of nineteen fellow crew members. The Indian government had strongly condemned that incident and stressed the growing danger posed to commercial shipping in the Gulf region.
New Delhi reiterated its appeal for dialogue, urging all parties to refrain from targeting merchant vessels, sailors, or civilian infrastructure. It called for the rapid restoration of free and safe navigation through international sea routes, emphasizing that sustained peace is essential for global trade.
