Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge Tribute by Slovak Envoy
Decades after its release, 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' (DDLJ) continues to hold a special place in the hearts of viewers worldwide. Now, Slovakia's ambassador to India, Robert Maxian, has joined the list of fans, revisiting the Bollywood classic through a heartfelt video that brings back the film's most iconic line.
On Saturday, Maxian shared a post on X highlighting his fondness for the film. "This blockbuster revives memories of the years I spent living in India," he wrote. "Released in 1995, 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' is a romantic film that has remained popular over time."
The accompanying video shows him driving while delivering the famous dialogue in his own distinctive way. "Koi baat nahi senorita, bade-bade shehron mein chhoti-chhoti baatein hoti rehti hain," he said.
The film, which hit theatres in 1995, featured Shah Rukh Khan as Raj Malhotra and Kajol as Simran Singh. Its love story, emphasis on family respect, and journey from Europe to Punjab have become its defining elements. Directed by Aditya Chopra, the movie gave Hindi cinema a fresh identity in romance and won over multiple generations of audiences.
The dialogue 'Chhote-chhote shehron se...' is widely regarded as one of the film's most memorable lines. Delivered in Raj's style, it has become a lasting part of the film's legacy in the minds of its viewers.
Maxian regularly uses his official account to appreciate India's beauty, language, and diversity. In June, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official visit to the Slovak Republic, he posted a video message on X greeting the Prime Minister in Hindi. In that message, he said, "There is a historic opportunity in India-Slovakia relations. I hope this visit will further strengthen the ties between India and Slovakia."
