Details of 21 Indians Saved from Nepal’s Flash Flood Released

New Delhi, 27 August – The Ministry of External Affairs disclosed on Thursday that a rescue team operating near Timure, Nepal, successfully extracted 21 Indian citizens from a sudden flash flood. All of the survivors hail from Tamil Nadu and were on a religious trek toward Kailash‑Manasarovar.

The MEA made public a comprehensive name‑list, confirming each rescued person: Shivranjani Muhtunathan, Karpgam Raj Mohan, Maran Govindasami, Shanti Maran, Muhtukumaresan Ramalingam, Navu Kabir Das, Vijaya Bhuvaneshwari Vishwanathan, Maithili Muhtukumaresan, Tyagarajan Rathinam, Kirubagari Balasubramanyam, Vallinayaki Shivkumar, Saathiya Jayaraman, Thirumavalavan Govindarasu, Kanagasabai Natesapillai, Radhaï Kanagasabai, Rathinakumar Kunchithapatham, Punguzhali Ponnambalam, Pajaneyappon Makaperumal, Kalanmathi Pajaneyappon, Ragunathan Muniraj, and Kanagasabai Natesa Pillai.

The statement added that 288 Indians are still unaccounted for in Nepal, including 73 staff engaged in the Trishuli‑1 hydro‑electric venture. Moreover, authorities are maintaining contact with roughly 200 Indian nationals stranded in Tibet.

India has pledged additional aid to mitigate the flood’s impact, dispatching relief goods and a belly‑bridge in line with Nepal’s appeal. A 24‑hour crisis‑management cell has been set up, and round‑the‑clock helplines now operate at Indian diplomatic missions in Kathmandu and Beijing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his condolences to the Nepalese Prime Minister and assured unwavering assistance.
