‘Desi’ bullet train will run soon in India, speed will be 250 km per hour…

Chennai. India is preparing to introduce its own bullet train, which will be capable of crossing the speed of 250 km per hour. According to an official, the high-speed train currently being developed is being built on the ‘Vande Bharat’ platform, which is famous for its maximum speed of 220 kmph. It is currently being built at the Indian Railways’ Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, with designs rapidly taking shape.

In the global arena, high-speed trains like the French TGV and the Japanese Shinkansen are recognized for their ability to run at speeds of more than 250 kmph, TOI reports.

India’s journey towards high-speed rail has not been without international support. While the Mumbai-Ahmedabad line is set to be served by Japanese technology-powered bullet trains, which is currently under construction. India is now taking steps towards self-reliance in this area. The Shinkansen E5 series trains planned for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route have a speed of up to 320 kmph.

According to the official, the focus is not just on speed but also on efficiency. The new Vande Bharat trains are set to accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in just 52 seconds, which is two seconds faster than the existing bullet trains.

Proudly built by ICF, Vande Bharat trains are a testament to India’s indigenous engineering prowess and will run on the recently announced North, South and East corridors with an emphasis on integration of Indian technology and domestic manufacturing. These new corridors will complement the Western Corridor being built for India-Japan cooperation.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is providing a soft loan of about Rs 40,000 crore for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail project, the total project cost of which is more than Rs 1.08 lakh crore. National High-Speed ​​Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which has been entrusted with the task of implementing India’s first bullet train venture, recently set a milestone by completing 300 km of ferries.
