From Deportation to Capture: The Case of Nadira Sultanah in Mumbai

Investigators in Mumbai have outlined the sequence of events leading to the arrest of a Bangladeshi national named Nadira Sultanah. The woman was initially deported from India by Goa authorities in July 2026. Sources claim she re‑entered the country illegally, using a forest path to cross the border and ultimately reaching Mumbai. On August 15, a local resident reported a lone woman matching her description near Girgaon Chaupatty footpath. Police responded, identified the individual, and brought her to Ghamdev Police Station. During questioning, she admitted to being a Bangladeshi citizen, revealed her parents' names, and gave a residential address in Kekeria village, Sultan Shahi post, Gopalganj district. She could not furnish any valid Indian travel or citizenship papers, prompting her detention while the case proceeds.
