Delhi‑Led Relief Convoy Delivers Medicines, Equipment and C‑17 Airlift to Venezuela

On the weekend following the deadly earthquakes, a relief convoy from Delhi touched down in Venezuela, carrying vital humanitarian aid. Two Indian Air Force C‑17 Globemaster aircraft flew from Abu Dhabi to Caracas, each loaded with medical kits, emergency shelters and a modular “Bhishma Cube” health unit.

The cargo included roughly six tonnes of pharmaceuticals, bandages, antibiotics and other essential supplies required for treating injuries sustained in the disaster. The Bhishma Cube, part of the Arogya Maitri Project, is a self‑contained medical facility that can be rapidly deployed in remote locations lacking infrastructure.

According to the Indian embassy in Côte d’Ivoire, the relief team consists of 41 personnel, among them nine doctors, who are prepared to conduct emergency surgeries, manage severe trauma cases and provide routine health services. The presence of defence personnel ensures secure handling of the equipment and smooth coordination with local authorities.

Officials said the airlift and ground support will remain active until the field hospital can be handed over to Venezuelan health authorities, ensuring continuity of care for those still recovering from the quake’s impact.
