Delhi Delegation Strengthens India‑Pacific Cooperation in Samoa, Cook Islands, Nauru
The Ministry of External Affairs released a statement confirming that Minister Pabitra Margareta will lead a delegation to three Pacific island states between 16 and 22 October. The mission aims to reinforce bilateral relations and accelerate development assistance.
Key agenda items include reviewing ongoing infrastructure projects, expanding trade links, and discussing maritime security cooperation. The minister will also meet local business leaders to identify opportunities for Indian investment in tourism, agriculture and renewable energy.
Stakeholder engagement will extend to the Indian diaspora, whose contributions to local economies are recognized as a bridge for deeper cultural exchange. Site inspections will cover schools, clinics and solar‑power installations that have been financed by India.
This visit follows the third Forum for India‑Pacific Islands Cooperation summit in May 2023, marking another step in a series of initiatives that seek to tighten political, economic and diplomatic ties across the Pacific region.
