New Defence and Sea‑Security Pacts Aim to Strengthen Indo‑Pacific Stability

India and Indonesia signed a defence‑industry MoU covering joint production, technology transfer, capacity building, shipbuilding, and the supply, maintenance and repair of defence equipment. The agreement also establishes collaborative research and development programmes and strengthens the defence supply chain.

Both sides welcomed progress in medical‑supply cooperation between military medical institutions, underscoring the importance of health readiness in defence collaboration.

The maritime cooperation component expands to include Maritime Domain Awareness, coastal monitoring, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR), pollution control, and search‑and‑rescue (SAR) activities. Leaders said the enhanced maritime partnership will contribute to a safer and more stable Indo‑Pacific maritime environment.

President Prabowo Subianto also expressed interest in the integrated development of Sabang port, signaling a willingness to deepen maritime connectivity and logistics cooperation.
