Dalai Lama Calls for Compassion While Recovering in Leh

The Dalai Lama, recovering from a left‑knee operation, is staying in Leh, Ladakh, where he finds the climate ideal for his convalescence. He announced that he will remain in the region for several more weeks to benefit from the favorable weather.

In a message to his supporters, he thanked everyone who wished him a happy 91st birthday and reflected on his lifelong dedication to serving humanity.

He appealed to people of all ages to practice love, kindness and compassion, describing these qualities as essential for building a better world.

He also shared a personal aspiration to live up to 130 years, hoping that his extended lifespan will enable him to continue spreading Buddhist principles and aid communities worldwide.
