Curfew Blocks Communication, Hinders Investigation of Missing Persons in Jaffarabad

A strict curfew imposed around the Jehari locality of Balochistan’s Khuzaadar district has suspended mobile‑phone services, leaving residents cut off from the outside world. Human‑rights advocates say this communication blackout is making it exceedingly hard to verify the identities of a woman killed in a drone strike, the status of two injured civilians, and the fate of 25 people who were taken into custody and have since disappeared.

The organization warned that the combination of civilian targeting, enforced disappearances and denial of information access creates a grave human‑rights crisis that warrants an immediate, independent probe. It called on the United Nations, as well as international NGOs, to demand that Pakistani officials disclose the locations and condition of all missing persons and to ensure no further harm comes to civilians.

The statement also referenced ongoing grievances in Turbat, where the Frontier Corps’ road blockades have disrupted daily life for thousands, including patients, doctors and schoolchildren, exacerbating the humanitarian situation.
