South Korean investigators have connected a costly Roger Wear clutch to a suspected bribery scheme surrounding the People Power Party’s 2023 leadership contest. The bag was allegedly handed to former first lady Kim Gon‑hee by the spouse of lawmaker Kim Ki‑hyun, who sought the lawmaker’s endorsement.

Prosecutors argue that the gift was meant to sway the lawmaker’s vote, thereby breaching the nation’s anti‑corruption law. The case is being heard in the Seoul Central District Court, where Kim Gon‑hee testified that she received the bag indirectly and did not know its source at the time.
