The Yemeni government‑backed coast guard released a statement saying the commercial ship Tahama was struck multiple times by missiles while transiting the Bab al-Mandeb Strait on Tuesday.
The attack killed six people and injured ten others. Among the dead were four crew members – three Pakistani nationals and one Indonesian citizen – while the remaining two were members of the government‑aligned Second Naval Brigade.
Seven other crew members, two coast‑guard personnel and one brigade soldier were wounded and are receiving medical treatment. The incident highlights the growing risk to civilian shipping in a corridor that connects the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.
