Combined Naval Operations Commence in the Yellow Sea as Part of 2026 Exercise

Beijing, July 9 – Chinese and Russian fleets have entered the operational stage of their "Joint Sea‑2026" exercise, moving from logistical preparations to real‑world maritime drills. The warships departed the Qingdao naval base on Thursday, heading toward a designated sector of the Yellow Sea for joint training.

The exercise, initiated on July 6, has already facilitated multiple exchange activities among senior commanders and naval personnel at the harbour. The sea phase encompasses integrated reconnaissance, layered air‑defence, missile‑defence, surface strike missions and joint submarine rescue operations.

The manoeuvre is designed to sharpen tactical coordination, improve joint command structures and signal a unified stance on safeguarding sea lanes in the region.
