Colombia quake leaves 3,824 wounded and 377 missing

The Monday earthquake in Colombia, measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale, has left a staggering 3,824 individuals with injuries and 377 still missing, according to the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management. Director David Tamayo reported that the death count has risen to 273, with 250 bodies processed by the forensic department, 227 identified and 189 delivered to families. The disaster affected 40,753 households, encompassing 97,515 people. Infrastructure losses include 12,584 homes razed and 74,873 damaged, alongside the collapse of 172 buildings. Educational facilities (2,198), community centers (825), health posts (216) and five airports also suffered damage. Satellite imaging and high‑resolution photos are being used for damage assessment, while rescue squads with dog teams search for survivors.
