Choi Hyun Heads to Washington for Three‑Day Diplomatic Mission

Choi Hyun departed Seoul on September 17 for a three‑day mission to the United States. The itinerary includes meetings with senior American officials, U.S. members of Congress, and a bilateral session with Secretary Rubio.

In addition to the economic and security agenda, the minister is expected to discuss North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs. The United States has signaled renewed interest in talks with Pyongyang, and Seoul hopes to maintain coordination on any diplomatic overtures.

Choi’s statements before leaving highlighted that South Korea will keep the safety of its citizens and the free flow of maritime trade at the forefront of its Hormuz policy, and that it will work closely with Washington on all related matters.
