The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China has announced a set of retaliatory steps aimed at two foreign ministers. Paraguay's communications and technology chief, Gustavo Emigdio Vilate Samaniago, and Belize's minister responsible for foreign affairs, trade, education, culture, science and technology, Francis Fonseca, are now subject to asset confiscation within Chinese jurisdiction. The decree also forbids Chinese organizations and individuals from any dealings with the two officials and imposes a comprehensive visa refusal and entry prohibition, covering mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau. The measures will be enforced starting 12 October 2026.
