Chinese delegation tops medal table at Nagoya 2026 Asian Games

The 20th Asian Games in Nagoya saw the Chinese delegation finish atop the medal table, collecting 341 medals in total. The haul comprised 169 gold, 89 silver and 83 bronze medals, giving China the leading position in both gold‑medal count and overall points.

This performance stands as the best by a Chinese team at an Asian Games held abroad. The previous overseas high was 165 gold medals at the Doha edition, where China entered 37 of the 39 sports and 362 events. In Nagoya, Chinese athletes competed in 38 sports and 369 events, pushing their gold tally to a new record.

The closing ceremony on 4 October transferred the Games flag to Doha, confirming the next host city. China's record‑breaking medal count reflects its strategic focus on broad‑based athlete development and sustained competitive excellence.
